Description:
The Walter P. Chrysler Museum opened in October 1999, marking the 75th anniversary of the Chrysler brand. The museum houses Daimler Chrysler’s American heritage, including its collection of milestone vehicles, related artifacts and documents from predecessor companies.
Throughout the museum visitors are encouraged to activate interactive displays which explain technical features in easy-to-understand language and graphics. At the "Gadgets, Gimmicks and Bright Shiny Chrome" section, visitors use a push-button automatic transmission on a 1950s-era instrument panel to activate the A/V program.

The building"s lower level contains an exhibition space dedicated solely to cars. Called "Boss Chrysler"s Garage" it holds approximately 35 cars and eight performance vehicles in a center space designed to look like a racetrack. Additionally, there is a re-creation of a Chrysler dealer showroom from the 1930s, complete with potted plants and product literature rack. Also, there is a vignette of fabled "Room 13" - the experimental dynamometer cell in Chrysler"s old Highland Park engineering building, where such legendary high-performance engines as the first Chrysler Hemi V-8, and the Ram Charger racing engines were developed, sometimes clandestinely.
The Walter P. Chrysler Museum is located on a 10-acre site at the northwest corner of Featherstone and Squirrel Roads, near DaimlerChrysler"s headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan. It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m, to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. (closed Mondays).
Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for seniors and juniors. For more information, visit the web site at www.chryslerheritage.com or call toll-free at 1-888-456-1924.
