Opened in December 1999, MotorCity Casino is a $160 million temporary casino in Detroit that covers approximately 20 acres in and around the old Wonder Bread factory at Grand River Avenue and the Lodge Freeway. The four-story casino has two main floors of gaming. A third gaming floor is designated for non-smoking and the fourth floor is for high-limit players. The casino also has two entertainment venues for shows and acts.

Managed and operated by Mandalay Resort Group (formerly Circus Circus Enterprises), the casino offers 136 tables and 2,618 electronic gaming devices (2,362 slot machines and 256 video poker machines) encompassing more than 68,000 square feet of gaming space. The table games include 84 Blackjack, 14 for Roulette and 12 for Craps. There are also 11 Caribbean Stud games, five Mini Baccarat, five Pal Gal poker games, four Let it Ride games and one Baccarat game.
Restaurants at MotorCity include Classics Buffet, Iridescence (fine dining), La Shish (Middle Eastern cuisine). Deli Unique and High Octane Cafe. The four restaurants plus the coffee shop are located in the adjacent restaurant pavilion connected to the casino via two skywalks.
A pedestrian skyway also connects the casino to a four-story parking structure with 3,000 free spaces.
The permanent casino site is projected to be a $600 million facility including a 26-floor, 820-room hotel. In addition to 100,000 square feet of casino space, there will be fully 27,000 square feet of retail and 50,000-square feet of convention and meeting space along with eight restaurants.
